Jacks or Better
It's 1986 in Lincoln and you're a sophomore at UNL and...you're hungry, thirsty and want to get the h*ll out of the dorm! What to do? You could head down to Jacks or Better at 27th and Holdrege and, depending on the night of the week, pig out on 25¢ tacos, 50¢ burritos, or 75¢ Mexican pizza (no clue on the toppings). There were also PLENTY of nightly drink specials and live bands on the weekends. In short, it was a mainstay hangout for your average UNL student of the era. Even Jacks knew it with their tagline "Students, enjoy a champagne meal on a beer budget!"
