People have written us to ask "Why spend time and effort and hassle throwing together a Portland (Maine?!?) collection when there are SO many other places to feature?" It's then we know that some people just don't "get" what we do here! The not-so-simple answer is that Portland shares a lot with other small, history-rich towns where you also found top-flight musical acts, bars, and the eccentric, brilliant, artistic people who ran it all. Portland, especially in the magical era from, say, the mid 70s to the early 90s really had it ALL! Herewith, we offer up but a few of the special places that stretch from those years and weave together a story of the times back then!
