Charlottesville, VA.

Charlottesville, VA.

Charlottesville has always attracted an eclectic, adventurous crowd – both in the student and townie populations. And, once upon a time, before stricter drinking laws and university crackdowns, there was a Big Ol’ party going on in town on any given night! Some say the live music heyday started n the mid 70s and ran until the early 90s or so, when C-ville was touted as the next Seattle as far as music scenes go. Classic basement bars like the Mineshaft  sprung up, along with cavernous spaces like Trax, where amazing live bands (including dozens of national touring acts and legendary bluesmen) played.  And student life back then? Just ask any alum “of a certain age” about Easters, a weekly event that was killed off by U officials back in the early 90s. Hint: Playboy magazine called the celebration “the best party in America.” Yep. Mom and Dad knew how to GET DOWN back in the day. Here's our homage to the places that ruled!
