The Rock N Horse
Back in the late 70s, when folks in Aspen started to embrace the disco culture (and fashion), the influential local “ski gang” known as The Bell Mountain Buckaroos were having none of it. Most notably Mark Hesselschwerdt and Ron Chauner (and other Buckaroos)…and thus Aspen’s only “Rock and Roll Disco” was opened in the basement of the Hotel Jerome...The Rocking Horse. There was little disco being played there, though. It was mostly the Eagles, Stones, Motown, etc. And no expense was spared on the state of the art sound system either. It was all in good fun, though, and all were welcome, even those seen wearing sequined ski jackets on the mountain, although they were closely watched inside the Horse to stave off any Travolta moves on the dance floor.
