Mississippi Queen
The River City has seen its share of live music hot spots. But the 80s-era Mississippi Queen was billed as “The Heavyweight on La Crosse’s Music Scene.” Opened in April 1980, it was the second location of the hugely-popular establishment, the original in nearby Winona. Mug nights were Mondays and Wednesdays, with Greek nights and nightly drink specials too. Another slogan was “Damn Good Times at River City’s Rock Capital”, the "Queen" ran for many hard-partying years, and closed in 1983.
